If you have been following my blogs, you will know that I am what you may call an emerging tech fan. Emerging technologies have the potential to reshape the world for the better and it will be an exciting decade staring in a few months.
The 2020s will be a decade of rapid growth so far as technologies are in consideration. You will see the implementation of a slew of tech innovations that you have not even heard about. yes, AI, AR, DLT, and IoT are already being implemented in the field but there are many technologies still in the labs, getting ready for their unveiling.
One technology that I do not talk enough about, though I have invested enough in, is Augmented and Virtual reality. I see a huge application of these technologies in everyday life before 2030 rolls by. Most people will harp at the market size and how the global market for augmented and virtual reality is expected to reach $94.4 billion by 2023, not me. I am more interested in the applications than the dollar value. I have always believed that when you create a huge market for yourself, in terms of applications and users, money follows.
Education will benefit from the adoption of AR and VR. There will be virtual classrooms which can be attended by students without relocating. It will be an interactive class just like we have one today.
The Medical industry is already using AR and VR and its applications will keep growing in years to come.
Augmented Reality, on the other hand, will find its most robust application in communications. You will have face to face meeting via holograms without leaving your office, teachers will be able to hold PTA meetings without physical presence. I see this technology reducing the carbon footprint of many businesses. Its possibilities are staggering. I will be talking about quantum computing in days to come and be sure to check back later for more updates on my blog.
